“Transversal Sound-ness” was a Deep Speech Listening Workshop with the RE-EURECA-PRO team in the context of the exhibition “Transversal Responses: Filling the Gaps,” which resulted in a sound collage. The seminar took place at the Montanuniversität Leoben on May 24th, 2024.
The sound collage incorporates fragmented voices with a continuous percussion beat. Dominika and Isabella engage in a collaborative dialogue of phrases, sampling techniques, and granular synthesis. The words were co-created with multidisciplinary scientists during the seminar. The sonic material alternates between disintegration, deceleration, and resumption, challenging the cognitive processes of listening and understanding to decondition the reasoning mind. The sound collage is composed in stereo but is versatile and can be adapted to multi-channel formats, including 7.1, to enhance its immersive and spatial qualities.
